This started as a blog about training together as a family, in part to inspire other women & families to get involved. As female participation in jiu jitsu has increased, as we have grown as athletes and as we learned that families training together aren’t such an anomaly, the blog has evolved. Jen gets personal with posts on ambition, challenges & achievements in BJJ, CrossFit & with nutrition, while Tom's posts are more educational, informative and analytical in regards to training. On occasion you may hear from the kids.

The people make it awesome.

by Logan

Out of all the tournaments I have ever competed in, I think this is the one I’ve had the most fun at. Even if I were to have lost every match, it still would have been a great day because of all the people that were there. Coached by Marcelo, Caelin and I competed along with Max, Anthony, and Hunter who competed for the first time. My lovely cousin Sean, who also trains, came along for support. He says that next time he too plans on competing. In addition to parents and other family, Sanya, David, and Carlos came to support us. It was nice to see Cheyenne again too. Later on, Lorraine, Brie, and Antonio also joined us. In addition, I made a couple of new friends at the tournament.
I think that competing is only truly fun when you have friends and team members there to support and be supported by. We’re all like a big family there to support each other. When you’re anxious from waiting many hours to compete, it’s nice to have people to talk to and make you laugh.
A great coach and team members make competing worth while.
